UCEM to convene cross industry event on enabling successful built environment apprenticeships
Posted on: 15 May, 2023
On Wednesday 17th May 2023, sectoral leaders within the built environment will attend an event hosted by UCEM to discuss how to enable successful technical and professional apprenticeships in the sector. The event is supported by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Construction Leadership Council (CLC).
Senior stakeholders from large firms, consultancies and academia will join representatives of organisations such as the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), Council of the Heads of Built Environment (CHOBE), Department for Education (DfE), Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to identify mutual aspirations to drive improvements and deliver successful apprenticeship outcomes.
UCEM Principal, Ashley Wheaton, said: “This will be UCEM’s inaugural ‘INSPIRE’ event, a series of occasional themed sessions that will convene influential stakeholders to consider the various challenges facing the built environment sector.
We hope that the day will catalyse discussions amongst attendees on this important topic, facilitated by a mix of presentations from invited speakers and engaging group workshops.”
Jill Nicholls, Head of Construction & the Built Environment, Transport & Logistics at the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) and Clare Johnson, Deputy Head of Profession at the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), will each give a presentation on technical and professional apprenticeships within the built environment.
Following this, attendees will take part in workshops, culminating in a plenary discussion on the practical solutions to increase retention, continuation and success of built environment apprenticeships.
