UCEM secures share of degree apprenticeship funding from OfS

UCEM is proud to announce that it has been awarded funding by the Office for Students (OfS) to expand its degree apprenticeships provision.
As part of a competition launched by the OfS, this funding is intended to help higher education institutions increase their capacity for degree apprenticeships and subsequently boost the equality of opportunity across the sector.
The funding UCEM has received will develop a new offer for the Level 6 Construction Quantity Surveyor degree apprenticeship to meet demand from our employers. In addition, we will be able to connect with new prospective apprentices and employers to grow the uptake on two existing apprenticeship standards: Level 6 Building Control Surveyor and Construction Site Management.
As the largest HE provider of apprenticeships for the construction and built environment occupational route, these funds will allow us to expand our provision and capacity, and target groups who are currently under-represented in the construction industry.
Similarly, as an online education provider, the expansion of our offerings through this funding means we will be able to reach prospective students that may not have been able to access these apprenticeships in the past.
As Stephen Bartle, Pro Vice Chancellor at UCEM, commented:
“The awarding of these funds represents our ambition to support employers and apprenticeships while continuing to ensure equal opportunity for all students interested in a career in the built environment. It also reflects our credibility within the higher education sector.”
