UCEM launches first online degree for Architectural Design Technology
Posted on: 8 April, 2024
UCEM is proud to announce that applications are now open for its new BSc Architectural Design Technology programme.
This degree focuses on developing the competencies and knowledge students need to be an Architectural Design Technologist, and is designed to support the growing demand for the creative and design skills needed to help advance sustainable development.
UCEM is the only university to offer this degree online, which will widen the study opportunities for those looking to develop their expertise in this profession. The introduction of this degree is a new discipline in UCEM’s provision as it pushes forward its vision to become the centre of excellence for built environment education.
Co-created by UCEM’s academics Marc Fleming and Jon Hubert, this undergraduate degree will initially be offered on a part-time (4.5 years) basis. In addition, to support growing demand from employers for design and creative skills, UCEM has also introduced a two-year, Level 4 Construction Design and Build Technician apprenticeship.
Marc Fleming, Programme Leader and former practitioner in the field, said:
“Emphasising collaboration and communication, the online Architectural Design Technology course prepares students for a future where they can confidently integrate creativity, technical expertise, and sustainability principles, positioning them as valuable contributors to the evolving landscape of architecture and the built environment.
“By using traditional techniques that are complimented with the use of industry-relevant software, UCEM aims to cultivate the pursuit of innovative practice by addressing industry challenges head-on.”
Marc is hosting a programme information webinar on Tuesday 21 May.
