UCEM INSPIRE event brings together sustainability leaders

Posted on: 10 July, 2023

Thursday 13th July 2023 sees the second of UCEM’s ‘INSPIRE’ events, this time focused on the need for effective leadership in the quest for a more sustainable built environment. The event is supported by the Construction Industry Council (CIC) and the Construction Leadership Council (CLC). It is run in partnership with The Edge, a built environment think-tank.

This in-person event will bring together sustainability leaders and experts from leading organisations in the built and natural environment sector, including property owners, developers, designers, consultants, contractors and managers.

Attendees will learn from distinguished speakers and panellists, from organisations such as MACE, JLL, Peabody Trust and the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.

Topics covered will include setting sustainability targets, what it takes to drive change as a leader and managing sustainability programmes over the long term.

UCEM hopes that the insights gained from this event will be instrumental in shaping the future of sustainable practices within the construction, built environment and property sectors.

UCEM Principal, Ashley Wheaton, said: “Sustainability is at the core of our vision to be the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment education. As part of our recently launched Sustainability Strategy 2023, UCEM recognises the climate emergency and also that, as one of the leading institutions educating the next generation of built environment professionals, we are in a unique position to both influence sectoral leaders and provide the necessary skills needed to mitigate climate change and biodiversity loss.

The primary goal of this INSPIRE event is to foster dialogue on meeting sustainability goals, share innovative ideas and highlight successful practices”.

This event is running as part of UCEM’s ‘INSPIRE’ series – themed sessions that enable collaboration between influential stakeholders to consider the various challenges facing the industry, bringing together INfluence for Skills, Productivity, Industry, Research and Education and offering collaboration that is integral to the future of the built environment sector.
