A UCEM apprentice was ‘proud’ after winning a customer service award from his employer.
Alexander Aspin, who studies on UCEM’s Surveying Technician Diploma (Building Surveying pathway), was recognised with the award – given out to an outstanding employee each month – from construction equipment hire firm, Sunbelt Rentals UK.
Explaining why he was nominated by a performance standards manager for the award, Alexander said: “I was nominated for this award for ensuring the Scottish sites were compliant by completing large capital yard works and ensuring their fire doors were safe. After a review from an audit, it was deemed many places around the depots were unsafe, which I rectified as a priority.”
He continued: “It’s a great achievement and makes me feel proud that I am being recognised for my hard work.”
Commenting on his apprenticeship, Alexander, a facilities co-ordinator, added: “The apprenticeship has been excellent so far with great teaching and I have been surprised by how interactive the workshops have been despite these being moved to online sessions.”
