UCEM appoints new Head of Digital Education

Renowned educational technology expert, Fiona Harvey, has been appointed UCEM’s Head of Digital Education within its Online Education Department.
Fiona, who consecutively held the roles of Vice-Chair, Chair and President of the Association of Learning Technology (ALT) between 2014 and 2017, joins from the University of Southampton where she was Digital Scholarship and Content Manager.
In her role as Digital Scholarship and Content Manager, Fiona was the lead for Digital Literacies and worked with academics and students to enhance the student experience of using technology.
Her innovative work with the university was recognised with the roles at ALT and invitations to speak at a range of educational technology events in the UK and overseas, and she is currently the Co-Chair of the ALT South Special Interest Group.
Speaking upon her appointment, Fiona said: “UCEM is a leader in the provision of online education in the Built Environment and I am delighted to be joining the institution.
“UCEM’s online education provision is very good and I am very excited to be tasked with using my skills and expertise to help make our students’ learning materials even more innovative and engaging.”
UCEM’s Dean – Online Education, Lynne Downey, added: “We have been aware of Fiona and her standing within the educational technology world for some time so I’m very happy that she has joined UCEM.
“Fiona brings a wealth of digital education experience with her, as well as a passion and enthusiasm for learning technology and education. She is a frequent speaker at various government conference events which she will continue to speak at, now representing UCEM.”
