UCEM alumna named UK Young Surveyor of the Year at RICS awards ceremony
Posted on: 7 December, 2018
A UCEM alumna won the main prize at the RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards last Friday.
Having won in the ‘Quantity Surveying & Construction’ category at the awards ceremony, Laura Collins was called up to the stage again to collect the ‘UK Young Surveyor of the Year’ prize.
Laura, who graduated from UCEM’s BSc (Hons) Quantity Surveying programme in 2010, is an Associate at Rider Levett Bucknall, and was the recipient of the Alumni of the Year award at last year’s UCEM Property Awards.
Laura became a Chartered Surveyor at 23 and was the youngest person in her firm to be promoted to the role of Associate Director before reaching 30, with clients across the world taking note of her success in projects and seeking to work with her.
She commented: “I feel really honoured to have received the RICS Matrics awards and a bit overwhelmed! I am very grateful for all the support I have had in my career so far. Helping to inspire the next generation to work in our industry is really important to me so I was really pleased the peer mentor work with UCEM was recognised as part of the award.”
As well as Laura’s accolades at the ceremony, we were delighted that she was one of 11 UCEM apprentices and alumni nominated in the various categories for the event.
