Students and staff are invited to nominate individuals for The UCEM Teaching Excellence Awards (TEAs) 2019.
After the success of last year’s inaugural TEAs, the Awards are being brought back and there are now five categories for students and staff to vote in; two more than last year.
Voting opened last Friday with nominations invited for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, Recognition of Excellence, Outstanding Contribution to Feedback, Outstanding Contribution to Academic Support and Outstanding Contribution to Pastoral Support.
The Innovation in Teaching and Learning Award recognises an individual’s commitment to innovative teaching and learning within their subject area or specialism; the Recognition of Excellence Award recognises an individual’s outstanding teaching and/or commitment to learning as well as raising the profile of excellence within their faculty or team; the Outstanding Contribution to Feedback Award recognises an individual who has made a significant difference to the student learning experience with the feedback they give; the Outstanding Contribution to Academic Support Award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the academic support of students; and the Outstanding Contribution to Pastoral Support Award recognises an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the pastoral support of students.
Academic Programme Support Tutor, Sarah Brennan, who is leading on the awards for a second year, commented: “These awards give the UCEM community an opportunity to recognise the contributions that have made a difference to your learning and overall experience.
“I really enjoyed coordinating the awards last year and it’s a pleasure to see the positive comments about the learning and teaching here. I am looking forward to poring over the nominations and choosing this year’s winners in collaboration with other members of the awards panel.
“I was delighted with how many students and staff nominated UCEM colleagues last year and I would ask everyone to get involved again and take this opportunity to recognise those people who have made a big difference to your learning journey.”
Voting is open until Friday, May 17, and the winners will be announced during an all-staff meeting on Wednesday, June 12. Emails have been sent out with the voting link which can also be accessed from the Teaching Excellence Awards section on the VLE.
