College alumnus to row 2,400 miles across the Pacific

Emily Blagden, an alumna of the College of Estate Management, is one of the team of 4 intrepid ladies who are rowing 2,400 miles from Monterey Bay, California to Honolulu this June. Team Boatylicious hopes to raise £40,000 for charity and also to become the first all-female team ever to complete the Great Pacific Race.

Emily graduated from Exeter University in 2009, having read Economics with Geography. She joined JLL in 2010 through their non-graduate route.  Unable to fund a master’s degree, Emily was thrilled when JLL offered to sponsor her to study the RICS accredited PgDip Surveying with the College. A number of people in her department had previously studied with the College (as had Emily’s father Giles!), and Emily had a high level of support and mentoring from her colleagues.

“Being able to earn whilst studying is the major benefit of studying with CEM. I completed the course in March 2014 and will be sitting my APC in April 2015; I couldn’t have done this had I not been studying whilst working in the property sector”.
