Tell us about your time at UCEM
I was interviewed by Mr Jardine-Brown in 1962 and when I explained I was doing French, German and Larin A and S level he said that no-one in his knowledge had come to the College with those with that I might be an interesting experiment! I had a wonderful time and just squeaked through.
Tell us about your experiences since leaving UCEM
I worked for BR at Waterloo for 8 years and then had 27 very happy years at Hillier Parker May and Rowden, latterly running the professional side of the firm. I also had 2 years running the international business. I was Chairman of the RICS Dispute Resolution Panel for my last 3 years in practice.
After retirement I became a Non-Exec director of Great Portland Estates, Tilfen Land, and HSBC Property Investments as well as sitting on the Investment Committee of the then Hillier Parker Investors.
I was Master of my Livery, the Gold and Silver Wyre Drawers in 2010 and have for many years been involved in helping to look after the property owned by United Grand Lodge and latterly Mark Grand Lodge.
