Our employers

Paul Pratten, Associate Director – Quadrant Building Control

“I’ve been aware of UCEM since I started in this industry aged 18 and I know lots of people who’ve been through their programmes, including people in this office, so they were my obvious first port of call. We did research several other providers, but UCEM was highly recommended, highly reputable, and the only provider that offered a part-time building control degree that was 100% online.”

Sadaqat Hussain – Alumni Apprentice

“My Apprenticeship Outcomes Officer has walked along with me throughout this journey and has been fantastic. She cares about her students and is always on the other end of the phone. Until graduation day, I never thought I would have a strong relationship with someone I had never met in person.”

Further insight from our employers

Apprenticeships are no longer for just trades and young people. Tanya Horscroft, Learning and Development Manager at Vail Williams dispels apprenticeship myths in her guest article.

Apprenticeships provide a proactive approach to cultivating future talent, and a solution to the current skills shortage. Discover how these schemes address evolving industry demands, including digital proficiency and green skills, while offering a ‘win-win’ scenario for employers and employees.

As well as offering those new to the industry a fast track to qualifying, apprenticeships give current employees a chance to upskill. Hear from Paul Pratten how his company, Quadrant Building Control, have gone from not having a training scheme to running a dedicated apprenticeship initiative.
