Biography

Nicola Allen is a Building Surveyor and trained at the University of the West of England.  Nicola is an Associate member of the RICS, Chartered Association of Building Engineers.

Recent experience in Higher Education academic teaching at UCEM and previously at Birmingham City University delivering teaching sessions and modules on a number of Building Surveying and Built Environment related modules.

Over 10 years’ professional experience as a Building Surveyor and Project Manager and have been involved in the successful delivery of schemes within the Commercial and Education Sectors. Experience includes refurbishment projects and new build developments.

As part of Nicola’s engagement with the RICS, she is an RICS Associate Assessor.

Nicola currently teaches on a range of subjects at BSc and MSc Levels including:

  • Building Pathology
  • Building Surveying Practice
  • Professional Surveying Practice
  • Project/Dissertations


 

Nicola has undertaken research on RICS professional education and training requirements for building surveyors in terms of the extent to which they enable HEIs to develop graduates with the ability to meet the requirements of employers to address practice-based issues encountered in the first 12 months of employment.


 

Nicola has over 10 years of industry experience in Building Surveying.  Nicola has worked at larger professional consultancy practices such as Arcadis and Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) also, been a director of a smaller Building Surveying Consultancy.

Nicola has been involved in the successful delivery of schemes within the Commercial and Education Sectors. Experience includes refurbishment projects and new build developments.  Also, experience in dilapidations, feasibility studies, contract administration, and project management.
