The College’s coat of arms and motto
The Coat of Arms was granted to the College of Estate Management on 24th June 1929, bearing the motto ‘Ex Cultu Robur’ which can be interpreted as ‘Strength through knowledge’.
Every aspect of the crest was chosen to symbolise the values and vision of CEM. The crest’s colours represent truth (blue) and elevation of the mind (yellow / gold). The lion stands for courage, and the beaver represents perseverance. On either side of the owl sit two sprigs of oak with acorns, symbolising strength and growth. The helmet stands for wisdom, as do the two books and the owl. Finally, the wheatsheaf at the centre of the crest signifies the harvesting of one’s hopes.
