Team Overview
The Disability and Welfare Team provide support, information, advice and guidance to UCEM students and applicants. We work with individuals to identify and address any barriers to them being successful through additional support plans and reasonable adjustments. When working with students we ensure fairness and equality is at the heart of everything we do. The Team has a role to play in the entire student’s journey, from application all the way through to graduation and beyond.
What do you love most about working in your team?
Working with students throughout their time at UCEM and seeing them achieve their goals despite the challenges they may experience can be an inspiring thing. Being a part of their journey and working in a team of likeminded people willing to go the extra mile for students is extremely motivating.
What is the impact of your team’s work?
We help students to overcome barriers and achieve their goals. While the number of students we work with is relatively small, the impact can be significant.
What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?
UCEM is an exciting and dynamic place to work. Staff are passionate, supportive, and committed to providing the best service for students. It is great to see the impact of the work we do and to see UCEM students go on to do incredible things within the built environment sector.
Teaching Fellow
Permanent, full-time
Closing Date: 24 March 2025 at 17:00
Quality Assurance Officer
Permanent, full-time
Closing Date: 20 March 2025 at 12:00

Team Overview
The team is responsible for supporting the oversight of the quality and standards of UCEM awards and the student experience. It does this via co-ordinating the development of a framework of documentation detailing the policies, procedures and regulations involved and through internal quality audit. The team is responsible for managing relationships with the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies, External Examiners and working with other teams to respond to student complaints and appeals. The team is also responsible for the arrangements for the approval, amendment, monitoring, review and enhancement of UCEM programmes.
What do you love most about working in your team?
The team is really passionate about enhancement and is always looking for ways that it can improve how it operates. Whilst each member of the team has their own tasks and responsibilities the team works really well collaboratively ensuring that all members are fully supported and that large team projects can be delivered.
What is the impact of your team’s work?
The team through working with others (including senior managers, academics, student support teams and students) ensures that students receive a high-quality student experience and that UCEM continues to meet the requirements of regulatory bodies to allow it to continue to operate. The team regularly attends external webinars and quality networks to ensure that it keeps up to date with sector best practice in order that this information can be shared across the institution.
What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?
There are lots of things I love about working at UCEM. I can probably narrow it down to two key things, firstly, the people that work at UCEM. Staff are so friendly and supportive, always willing to go the extra mile to help each other out and also to support our students. Secondly, our strategy and ambitions to grow and develop as an organisation.

Careers Adviser
Permanent, full-time
Closing Date: 18 March 2025 at 17:00
Learning Technologist
Permanent, full-time
Closing Date: 14 March 2025 at 12:00

Team Overview
The team implement and administer the Learning Technology systems that are used to deliver UCEM programmes to our students. The work of the team ranges from the day to day business as usual activities (platform administration, course set-up, user queries), identifying (and delivering) opportunities to improve efficiency / user experience and researching, evaluating and implementing new systems.
What do you love most about working in your team?
I can’t only select one for this. Firstly, there is variety in the work– whether this involves solving a problem, implementing a system or determining ways to enhance and continually improve our systems there is always the opportunity for a challenge. Second, and most importantly, it’s the people – we support each other and have a range of skills that complement and provide the chance for all to learn and develop.
What is the impact of your team’s work?
The systems that we look after and implement are fundamental to the learning experience of our students. Essentially how they are set-up and run is the foundation of our course delivery. This then enables all of the other excellent teams involved in our courses to support our students.
What’s your favourite thing about working for UCEM?
Years ago I would have gone for something related to sport, now though, I would say the vision of the UCEM, the aim to be the Centre of Excellence in our area is a great motivation. You feel part of a much larger and wider aim that is having a significant contribution to the built environment.

Equality Diversity and Inclusion
Here at UCEM we champion Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in our workforce. We began our EDI journey in Autumn 2021 by forming an EDI Staff Working Group, which meets regularly to plan and implement changes and developments that will bring us closer to our goal of having a more diverse and inclusive workforce. We do not have a “tick-box mentality” but instead are committed to embedding real and lasting change within our institution. As an online education provider for the Built Environment we want our staff to be representative of the diverse and global student body that we serve. Please see our Equality Diversity and Inclusion Policy for details on how this relates to our recruitment and selection process.
Overseas Working
We also wish to be transparent about where UCEM job roles are located and the conditions around right to work; full details can be found within our Overseas Working – Place of Work Policy. UCEM job roles must be carried out in the country in which they are based, which is currently the United Kingdom or Hong Kong.
Pre-employment Checks
UCEM undertakes thorough pre-employment screening as part of its recruitment process. Given we have contracts with Government offices, we make sure our checks comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS). Checks will include identity, right to work, basic disclosure criminal record check, and three years of employment history.
Recruitment Policy
We recommend you read our Recruitment Policy prior to applying for a role with UCEM. This document provides detail on our approach to recruitment and explains our full recruitment procedure.
Employee Referral Bonus Scheme
UCEM operates an Employee Referral Bonus Scheme which enables existing employees to receive an introduction bonus where they introduce a friend, family member, or other personal contact as a job applicant and the referred person is then subsequently recruited and employed as a result of that introduction. If you are applying for a role with UCEM and have been introduced by an existing employee, please ensure that you read carefully, and follow the rules of the scheme in order for the bonus to apply.
Agencies
We request that recruitment agencies do not submit CVs for job vacancies, unless specifically requested to do so by the HR team. UCEM will only accept agency CVs where terms and conditions of contract have been previously negotiated and agreed with the HR team.
Speculative Enquiries
UCEM will advertise all job opportunities on this website and does not retain speculative CVs on file.
Data Protection
As part of the recruitment and selection process we collect and process personal data relating to enquirers and job applicants. We are committed to being transparent about how we collect and use personal data; please see our Privacy Notice for job applicants for details.
